What is your koan?

Posted on Aug 10th, 2008 by Reyji-san : warrior Reyji-san
A koan has been used for many centuries by zen masters and students of zen to break through into the nature of reality. It is beyond any concept that the mind can think  of because the mind will never be able to answer a koan. It will stop your mind from thinking.  The koan is a tool designed to shatter the mind of all rational thought. It will break through the barriers of ego and mind until you are reduced to complete nothingness. Why would anyone even want to be reduced to nothing? Well because in this state of nothingness everything reveals itself your true nature will be staring at you in the face. Perhaps laughing or silently in bliss. The koan is an inviation to who you really are.

"What is your original face before your parents were born?"  "What is the sound of one hand clapping?"  "Who is the one listening?"  "Does a dog have Buddha Nature or not?"   These are examples of koans or it could be as simple as "What is the meaning of life?" It's not so much the words or the question that matters. It's one's burning desire to get to the root of the question which is the secret to penetrating into a koan. The koan must consume your whole being for it to bear any fruit. What is your koan?  Well it could be  simply life happening just as it is whether your aware of it or not that is a living breathing koan. Life itself. How deep you want to get into discovering the koan of life is up to you.

What might you learn to live without, and why?

Posted on Jul 25th, 2008 by Reyji-san : warrior Reyji-san
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 25, 2008:

2 Things. Suffering and control. We create so much suffering for ourselves either in an unconscious or subconscious level because of ignorance, society, social pressures, and desiring what we can't have.  We have become so conditioned in creating all this unneeded suffering that we have to unlearn how to stop doing this to ourselves.

We believe we have control and to a certain degree we can dictate how our lives should be lead but ultimately we have no control at all. We don't know what tomorrow can bring, circumstances are always changing as well as our minds. We can hardly control ourselves so the desire to control others is futile. Trying to control what can't be controlled is a waste of energy and can lead to further suffering. I say give up the need for control and adapt to what is that which is always changing from moment to moment to moment. These are two things I can learn to live without.

Dorje Chang Buddha III

Posted on Jul 16th, 2008 by Reyji-san : warrior Reyji-san
Few amongst us know that there is a very Great Buddha living in this world. Dorje Chang Buddha is considered the supreme Buddha of the Universe. The highest and holiest of all the Buddhas and he has reincarnated in this life time because of karmic conditions relating to the good fortune of human beings. HH Wan Ko Yeshe Norbu has been recognized by over 100 of the holiest rinpoches and dharma kings to be the reincarnation of Dorje Chang Buddha. To be recognized of this highest of distinctions one must meet and surpass 5 conditions which include possessing supernormal powers and impeccable dharma wisdom. Nobody can get away with fasely claiming to be the incarnation of Dorje Chang Buddha. The last incarnation was at the time of the Buddha when he was known as Vimalakirti one of the Buddha's disciples. If you've read some of the sutras Vimalakirti was revered by the Buddha's disciples for possessing the highest wisdom and greatest ability.

HH Wan Ko Yeshe lives a very secretive life a master artist his paintings and scupltures have been sold as one of the most expensive art pieces in China. Just by seeing his works in person can evoke blessings. His expounding of the dharma is impecabble and his teachings are meant to correct the ways the dharma path is applied to daily life. HH Wan Ko Yeshe is no ordinary Buddha his students and disciples are rinpoches and enlightened masters. Click here to visit a website about him.

Unknown

Posted on Jul 10th, 2008 by Reyji-san : warrior Reyji-san
venturing into the unknown
a realm of such vastness
and unlimited potential
there is no effort in doing
there is no place for the ego
to dwell and to control
all boundaries of Self
disappear in the unknown
everything manifests from this
clear space of emptiness
out of this nothingness
everything arises
spontaneously
effortlessly
intuitively
unsure in the uncertainty
just go with the flow
like water following
the source of a stream
like air being carried
by a gust of wind
directionless but heading
exactly where it is meant to be
surrendering to the unknown
is all you need to know
not knowing is a
beautiful lesson in
trusting the grace of the divine
is conspiring for your
ultimate fullfillment
your complete realization
that everything is
already whole and perfect
just as it is ...

What is the difference between knowledge and wisdom?

Posted on Jul 4th, 2008 by Reyji-san : warrior Reyji-san
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 02, 2008:

When you know the difference between knowledge and wisdom that is knowledge when you taste the difference between knowledge and wisdom that is wisdom. You know what you want to order from the menu then only can you can taste the food that you've ordered. Hopefully its yummy because you can still order food that's not good which is incorrect wisdom. The greatest wisdom is always the most delicious nectar.
